Dazz K, an experienced genre transending DJ, JP a technical studio wizard with a backcatalogue spanning D&B and Techno bring an unbiased wealth of talent to the table. MOT3K… Believe the hype….
Originally from just outside Brighton, England, Darren Knoth aka DJ Dazz K was first bitten by the electronic music bug at the age of 15. Heavily influenced by hip-hop, rave, and later house, Dazz bought his first pair of 2nd hand direct drive turntables and 20 years later, he hasn’t looked back…
In that time Dazz has established himself as one of Perth’s most capable and versatile DJ’s, adapting to, and moving with the times in an ever changing scene over the years. He’s played at every venue in Perth and most festivals in the 2000s, supporting the likes of Carl Cox, Luke Slater, Cypress Hill, Prodigy, to name a few, and also DJ’ing interstate and overseas in Japan and UK.
Dazz is still as passionate now about music and forms one half of tech outfit MOT3K with friend Jean-Paul Chaudron aka JP. The pair met on the Perth DnB/Breaks scene and later started producing music together. Initially experimenting with broken beats, the pair settled on their mutual love for the underground tech sound…thus MOT3K was born.
A Dutch native, a computer wizard and music lover from an early age, was born, raised and took most of his musical influences from Breda his home town. On the weekend JP frequently travelled to Belgium and Rotterdam where a lot of his early influences were centred around Hardcore/Gabber. Gradually this hardcore sound gave way to a new love and appreciation for Industrial Techno, a sound now being churned out in some of the influential clubs in Europe.
As electronic music swept across the world, JP, like thousands others, became lost in the music. While most were listening to it or trying to play it, JP was more interested in making it.
After receiving his first computer in 1990, an old Atari 1024ST, with Fast Tracker installed, he was hooked. But it wasn’t till one of his oldest friends introduced him to Cubase that JP’s love affair with electronic music really started. With the early rave scene in full effect JP, became captivated by the ‘dirty’ and ’ grimy’ sounds thumping out of the clubs in Holland .
These early roots are clearly evident in the driving sound he now creates in his adopted home, Perth, Western Australia. In collaboration with long-time friend and arguably one of Perth’s most ‘well known’ Dj’s, Dazz K – initially experimenting with Drum and Bass and breaks production, Dazz bringing his range, funkiness and feel , JP his production, attention to detail and love of dark techno. As time passed mutual respect, an excellent working relationship and a growing maturity gave birth to MOT3K.
